UPDATED: Keep Your Kitchen Clean This Holiday Season

The holiday season is officially here! As you host family and friends for Thanksgiving tomorrow and again for Christmas next month, now is the time to impress your guests with your home design! Since you will more than likely use your kitchen and countertops more during the holiday months, it’s important that you are doing what you need to do to keep your kitchen surfaces clean and tidy.

At GMS Werks, we are your natural stone countertop experts. With years of experience in the countertop industry, we know the best ways to keep your countertops looking good, especially during the holiday season! Below, we go over some ways to keep your kitchen clean so you can impress your family and friends over the holidays!

Clean up messes right away

The first thing you should always keep in mind while guests are at your home is to clean up spills and messes right away. This is especially true if you are cooking Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at your home! How are you supposed to show off your new white granite countertops when there’s green bean casserole all over the place?!

Constantly wipe down your countertops

When cooking for your guests, always remember to wipe down your countertops! No one enjoys hanging out and talking around a countertop that has food crumbs or sticky liquids on it. Wiping down your white granite countertops consistently will make your kitchen and home look and feel clean, while also protecting your natural stone surfaces as well.

Use hot pads on your natural stone countertops

When cooking for Thanksgiving, chances are you will be using some sort of pots, pans and other things that may be hot. Consider using silicone mats to place these hot pots on rather than placing them directly on your stone countertops. Hot pots and pans can end up creating burn marks on your stone countertops, which is a costly repair to fix.

Don’t let your dishes pile up

Another thing that may turn off your guests is a pile of dirty dishes just sitting in the sink. Although it’s inevitable that there will be plenty of dishes to clean when hosting a holiday event, it’s a smart idea to clean them as you go. This will keep your dishes clean, your sink empty, your kitchen tidy and your guests happy!

When doing your holiday cooking this year, keep these tips in mind! Cleaning your countertops will keep your kitchen looking nice for your guests this holiday season, while also protecting your natural stone surfaces and ensuring they last for many years to come.
